The Mobile World Congress took place in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2, 2017. This must-see event showcasing future trends in the sector is as important to the cellphone industry as the CES is for connected devices.
For the 11th year in a row, Business France was in attendance, organizing a 650 sq. m. French Tech Pavilion at the show, packed with 109 French companies split into Hall 5 (network technologies and hardware) and 8.1 (mobile advertising, applications and digital marketing). More than 70% of the Business France delegation comprised startups, including Xooloo, a Best of Innovation Award winner at the CES in January, and shortlisted here for the MWC Global Mobile Awards in the connected lifestyle best mobile application category. Moreover, France’s 165 exhibitors were the largest foreign delegation at the show, not far behind host country Spain.
France and the Mobile World Congress go back a long way, and France’s major turnout is strategic; the country has a longstanding tradition of excellence in networks, driven by large corporates and outstanding public-sector research. France enjoys a global reputation for infrastructure performance and well qualified engineers. SMEs and startups can grow in a stable proven ecosystem, and showcase their expertise and creativity at leading global research and innovation events.
