This year’s Gamescom – the biggest event in the European video games calendar – will be taking place on August 22-24 in Cologne, Germany. In 2016, the event attracted 877 exhibitors from 54 countries and 345,000 visitors from 97 countries, including 30,500 trade visitors.
This year, Gamescom will be focusing once again on innovation, featuring new product launches and world premieres of new games. A Business France initiative – in partnership with the Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo (the professional body representing the French video games industry) and the Imaginove cluster – will see 20 French video game companies attend the event under the banner of “Le Game”, including major publishers and other key players in the sector.
The three-day fair will offer the French delegation the opportunity to interact and network with other industry players and to showcase “made in France” video games expertise. Now recognized as a major driver of growth, the French video games sector comprises some 600 companies generating around €3.46 billion in revenue, with nearly 31 million people in the country playing video games on a regular basis.
By showcasing cutting-edge French companies at this major event, Business France is aiming not only to raise the profile of French players in the industry, but also to highlight the quality of French video game technology and production.
You can check out the exhibitors for yourself at the “Créative France” pavilion at the entrance of Hall 4, lower level, in a dedicated space for trade visitors.
