Founded in the Netherlands in 2012 by three young entrepreneurs (Rob Van den Heuvel, Bas Smeulders and Sabi Tolou), SendCloud provides an end-to-end solution to make all aspects of cross-border logistics easier for SMEs and micro-enterprises. Its service offers printing of shipping labels, numerous delivery options, personalized emails for sending updates to end clients, and returns management. The company also manages relationships and communication with shipping agents as part of its service, which it offers via a free platform.
SendCloud raised €2 million in funds in February 2016, enabling it to roll out its services in Europe. It now has 10,000 customers in five countries (the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany and Austria) and employs 40 people.
Last June, the startup announced a second funding round of €5 million, led by HenQ Invest, BOM and TIN Capital. SendCloud has been operating in France since 2016 and, on the back of this latest investment, is now planning to expand its services to cover the entire country, giving French SMEs in the e-commerce sector the opportunity to compete with the biggest players in the market.
The company has already secured partnerships with a number of transport companies in Europe, including UPS, DHL, Bpost and DPD. In the French market, SendCloud has opted for Colissimo and Chronopost, with a number of other partnerships in the pipeline.
