Digital transformation: a winning strategy for CAC 40 firms

The first ever Forbes CAC 40 Digital Index has just been published in partnership with Forbes France. The report examines the extent to which French companies listed on the CAC 40 index have implemented digital transformation. It was conducted by assessing hundreds of websites and mobile applications on 16 criteria grouped into four major categories: technology, marketing, experience and platform.

Following the example set by internet behemoths and digital trailblazers Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon in the United States, French service providers were the leading performers: insurance company AXA claimed the top spot in this inaugural Forbes CAC 40 Digital Index, followed by Orange, CapGemini, Bouygues and Atos. In contrast, companies from heavy industry, such as TechnipFMC, LarfargeHolcim and ArcelorMittal, closed out the rankings.

Recent share price performance would seem to bear out Forbes’ analysis: four of the five top-ranking companies above have outperformed the CAC 40 over the past three years.
