Two recent reports looking at venture capital in France in 2016 – one by CB Insight and La French Tech, and another by Chausson France – highlight France’s thriving venture capital ecosystems and an increase in startup finance during the past year.
The report by CB Insight and La French Tech notes that the number of venture capital transactions in France doubled from 2015 to 2016, with 486 transactions worth a total of US$2 billion, pushing France up to second in Europe for transaction numbers after the United Kingdom, and third for startup finance, closing the gap with Germany in second place.
Chausson France’s report notes that foreign venture capital fund investments in innovative French startups were up strongly in 2016, reflecting growing interest by foreign investors in the French Tech scene.
With results like these, the future looks increasingly bright for tomorrow’s firms in France.
