THE VIE INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

For businesses wishing to boost their international personnel with young talent, breathe new life into their export network, or consolidate market share in foreign countries.

The VIE International Internship Program, established under French law by the Act of March 14, 2000 enables businesses to give 18- to 28-year-old candidates a temporary assignment of between six and 24 months in a foreign country. The assignment can be renewed once, but may not exceed two years in total. The scheme is open to candidates of all qualification levels not only from France, but also from any other country in the European Economic Area.

Find the best candidates with Business France

Business France has an enormous talent pool of talented candidates to choose from, with a wide range of skillsets, many of whom have already gained experience of working abroad. Highly motivated and well trained, they include profiles ranging from engineers to IT specialists, salespeople, technicians, and accountants… The flexible nature of the VIE scheme means that your personnel on the ground can be supplemented whatever project they are working on, and wherever they are located in the world.

Find a specific profile using our candidate database (in French)

Business France can help businesses to find a specific profile: our recruitment consultants specialize in different sectors and can help businesses find candidates matching their desired profile.

No administrative formalities for businesses to complete for personnel sent to work abroad

Business France looks after all administrative, legal and employment law aspects on their behalf, from contractual aspects to remuneration to social security protection. Chosen candidates do not sign a contract with the business, but rather with Business France. They then fall under public-sector status, and become the responsibility of the French Embassy in the country in which they are posted, while the business exclusively looks after all operational aspects.

Business France also provides comprehensive solutions for SMEs, including facilities in the target country to host the intern, customized support, and organizing a full-time timetable.

Financial incentives

All related expenditure is eligible for a special export loan (PPE) from  Bpifrance and can also be included in a prospective client insurance policy from COFACE which seeks to help businesses capture market share in foreign countries, through financial support and by offering guarantees against the risk of failure. Choosing the VIE solution also opens eligibility for an export tax credit for SMEs who commit money to find prospective export clients. This tax credit, worth up to €40,000, amounts to 50% of eligible expenditure committed during the 24 months after choosing the VIE solution.
